Week 8

My simulation is important not just to the early childhood field but to the families and society as a whole. When children form positive bonds, healthy attachments to their primary caregivers it builds a sense of security within in a child. It also assists with the beginning stages of building resilience that will continue to benefit the child into adulthood. The lack of a positive healthy attachment can cause hindrances to a child's social emotional development and can be very harmful to the child.

This simulation would benefit all early childhood professionals, as well as, families, stockholders, and society in general. With the may benefit hopefully being the child.

One way that my perceptions of an early childhood professional has been modified is be realizing how much knowledge one needs to take in all of the important studies that affect children to best do the job they are called to do. I have a better understanding of the importance of the career choice of an early childhood professional.

Finally I have enjoyed this class and feel like I have gained so much information from the text, the lessons and from the input of my fellow colleagues. Thank you for the amazing posts and comments that I have read. Good luck on your future courses.

Week 5
I enjoy reading about other countries and their approaches to early education. I attended a NAEYC and was enlightened as to how even though we speak different languages, have different ways of looking at early childhood and have different cultural values we are all on the same team. We are all trying to give children the best start in life as possible.

Some of the topics I found that are current research topics are inclusions of children with special needs, affects of stress and violence in young children and meeting the cultural learning needs of young children. All of these topic are also current topics here in the US.

I chose to look at Australia and their early childhood programing. I found it interesting how much focus of children's rights are looked at. All countries don't consider the rights and voice of the children as should be. Also the intensive programing for inclusion and support for professionals that are in the classroom. The support and understanding of inclusion is so refreshing. Inclusion is so much more than just putting children in the early childhood classroom, their needs to be support and a plan of how to ensure positive outcomes for children as well as education for professionals.

I found the resources for the families beneficial on this site as well.

Week 3
I chose to write about a positive example of how research  has made a positive impact with children and families. A high quality research study by five separate universities led by the Harvard School of Education between 1960-2016. This study showed the multiple benefits of early childhood education. For the children that attended a high quality early childhood programs. Because of this study more funds, resources and professional development has been focused towards this field. Children, families and professionals in the early childhood field are getting to reap the harvest of the outcomes of what this study has highlighted.
I personally have seen how much more a child benefits from a high quality program over a child that enters kindergarten without having that opportunity. Our states are starting to see the true value of this programs. It is funding benefit as well due to the fact that when a child attends a high quality program that utilizes the early intervention philosophy, they are less likely to need special education, less likely to drop out of school, more likely to graduate and less likely to end up in the prison system.
That early start helps children increase their social emotional development. I enjoyed reading this study to see how far we have come in the early childhood field, and that we are finally able to see how important a child's start in life is
The resource I found is New Harvard Study, reveal lasting benefits of quality early childhood education. By Megan Feldman.

Hello all. The topic I chose is how attachment plays a major role in social and emotions development of children. I wanted to research this topic because of the importance of bonding and connections in the over all development of social emotional growth in young children. We all need connections that is how we are wired. I promote this topic with in my work relationships with providers and families at my training ever chance I get. It is such a significant part of helping children build resilience,  how to help them build friendships and how to help them have confidence and emotional stability. I have seen so many children who have difficulty in social situations within a group and how building that connection with their care providers/teachers has supported the child in gaining friendship skills and they ability to learn to engage others in a positive way. In other words I have seen it work in real time. So to research it validates what I have witnessed. This is one of the topics that I am passionate about due to the research of attachment, showing its weight on social emotional development of children. I have learned so much already about validity and how to make research is only as validate as the process in which it is done. Any help and suggestions you as my colleagues have to offer I appreciate it.

Staying teachable will insure continued growth.
